Two favourite mountains commissioned for a big birthday… Kilimanjaro and The Matterhorn. Charcoal on paper, A2 (42x59cm).

It was lovely to make commissioned pieces I have so many of my own memories with too. I climbed Kilimanjaro in 2013, tropical rainforest and 28 degrees at the base, glaciers and minus 18 at the top, it was so interesting to walk up through all the different temperate zones. It’s a long walk and became a walk so slow towards the top it felt like a meditation, acclimatising to nearly 50% less oxygen at the summit, but so beautiful.
